Wanna Get Lucky?

I've had several people ask about the title of this blog as well as the name of my Etsy and eBay shops. Why Lucky Girl? It's because I am lucky, and I thought it might be interesting to share what makes me lucky.

One of the biggest parts of being lucky is believing that you are lucky. There's a good post about basic optimism and luck at Get Lucky. The Get Lucky blog is a nice resource for helping you bring out the lucky side in yourself, so browse around a bit while you're there.

I know that a lot of you are artists and crafters who sell your creations, so I want to address how luck comes into play for you. You know the old "is the glass half empty or is it half full" question? Let's take it a step further. You've created some lovely items, you have beautiful photos and written complete descriptions, and the items are listed for sale and available for immediate purchase. All the mechanics are in place, so consider that as having your glass half full.

Now it's time to fill your glass to the brim. Say to yourself, "I make beautiful things. People love to purchase my things. Customers want to give me money for the beautiful things I create." (If you don't sell things that you create, just change the words to fit your situation.) Now say it out loud. Write it down. (I just did both!) Do it again tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after, and the day after. Do you feel a bit silly saying it out loud? That's okay, and will pass after a day or so. Work at feeling and believing what you're saying, and your sales will pick up before you know it.

I'm off to ship today's packages. I'd love it if you'd come back here and let us know how long it takes before you see an increase in sales!

Hey Lucky Girl,

Thanks for the mention and for spreading the luck. The whole world has the opportunity to get lucky. I try my best to spread the luck as much as possible.

I love your stuff, and I'm not sure I've commented before, but this post just made me come over. I've been trying to practice using more positive intentions in several areas of my life, but for some reason it never occurred to me to use them where my writing is concerned. Thanks for reminding me how lucky I really am!

Very cool post and oh so true. For most people, including me, it so much easier to be negative than positive. Seems you have to consciously think about being positive.

I once say a story, on one of the news magazine type shows...20/20, Dateline, something like that. They looked at two (ok, very unscientific) women.

One considered herself to be unlucky, always expecting the worse, always fretting over things that very often were out of her control.

The other woman, considered herself lucky. Very positive, looked always on the positive side of things.

The "lucky" woman was much further along in her life. And, not too many bad things happened to her.

They even performed certain "experiments" on them (forgive me, it's been a few years since I saw this, so I can't remember exactly what they were) and as I said, the positive/lucky woman passed with flying colors.

What I took away from that was that a whether you consider yourself lucky or not, more importantly a positive attitude does have a positive effect on your life.

;-)
