Lucky Me, I Won!

As I was clicking around the blogosphere the other day the cute little fish button with the "win me!" star next to it caught my eye. I stopped and read a bit, and now I have a fun new (to me) blog to enjoy! I entered the fish button giveaway, and today I found out I won! Another Lucky Day to mark on my calendar!

Toxiferous Designs creates the cutest t-shirts, buttons, bags, and other gifts. Have a peak at the TD Blog, then check out the TD Shop. I love the Darkbirds items, especially this shirt.

A Snifty is Just the Sniftiest Thing Ever

These scarves are really SNIFTY (spiffy + nifty = snifty)! They're 100% lambs wool, infused with hypoallergenic pure essential oils that are embedded into the wool by a unique micro-encapsulation process. Left alone, there's little scent, but slight friction releases a yummy scent. Each scarf is about 8" x 40", plus 3.5" fringe at both ends. They come in 8 color/scent combinations:

Red smells like strawberries
Black smells like cola
Brown smells like chocolate (my favorite!)
Green smells like apples
Orange smells like oranges
Yellow smells like banana
Pink smells like bubble gum
Purple smells like grape (the package says it's supposed to smell like blackcurrant)

I bought a bunch of them on close-out a couple of years ago, and I'm down to my last few dozen. In fact, I only have one or two green scarves left, but more of the others. Perfect for kids of all ages, they make unique and much-talked-about holiday gifts!

I normally sell these for $8 plus $5.95 shipping. Get yours now, before the holiday shopping frenzy starts, and I'll give you 1 free with each 3 you purchase. I'll also charge you only the actual shipping cost, so if you only want one scarf you won't get hit with a big postage charge. (You can go to usps.com and estimate the postage, each scarf is about 7 ounces mailing weight, coming from zip 27713.)

Interested? Send an email to luckygirltrading [at] yahoo.com with the number of scarves you'd like, your color choices, and mailing address. I'll confirm I have the quantities and colors you want, weigh them in a shipping envelope or box, then send you a PayPal invoice. If you feel more comfortable making a purchase through an established e-commerce site, you can get these at my eBay store--but I can't give you any discount there.

Lucky Girl's Happy Birthday Giveaway Winner

Thanks to everyone who entered and was rooting for me in MTMD's Page Rank Olympics. I did not come in last!!!! I did do dreadfully though, so I think that's probably the last contest of that sort I'll attempt for a long while. Or ever.

Figuring out which comments were entries for my birthday giveaway and which were just comments was a bit tricky, and then I discovered that a couple of people commented and entered on my reminder post instead of the original contest post, so that made it even more complicated. I want to be fair and still give entrants the benefit of the doubt if possible, so if you commented on either post and I could find a link to this blog on your blog, I counted you as entered. Here's my list of entrants:
  1. Mizé
  2. Margaret
  3. Designing Hilary
  4. Mama Kelly
  5. Nessa
  6. kristleharrison
  7. silverhartgirl
  8. iris
  9. kat sanders
  10. leslie
  11. lala
  12. Jean Chia aka Ms.Yummy~licious

Congratulations to #6, Kristle at Stir-Crazy!

I am in a holiday sort of gift-giving mood even though it's not even September yet. Check back tomorrow to what fantastic deal I'll be offering next!

Home Sweet Home

After spending what seemed like an eternity on the road, I'm finally home. It was hard to leave that darling grandbaby again!

I'm spending what little is left of my birthday napping (I think the birthdays are starting to catch up with me!), and tomorrow it's back to business as usual. If you haven't entered my Birthday Giveaway yet, there's still a couple of hours left (the link is just below this post), I'm excited about selecting a winner tomorrow!

I'm On the Road Again--Please Enter These Contests

My car is loaded as full as possible, and I'm headed to Indiana again. This time I'm not just visiting, but helping Lucky Daughter #2 move to be closer to Lucky Daughter #1. I'm hoping to make it as quick a trip as possible so I can get back home and back to making stuff, and if that plan's working out I won't be able to post for a few days. If you haven't already entered, please take a minute to check out these contests, and with a bit of luck I'll be back in a couple of days.

Lucky Girl's Happy Birthday Giveaway
Enter by posting a link to this blog on your blog, then comment on the original contest post on or before August 27. Get all the details here.

Social Media Marketing MEGA Contest
Do you use Twitter, Plurk, Digg, MyBlogLog? Or use any other social media tool for marketing? I sponsored a prize in the contest because I am such a dunce when it comes to this kind of thing, and I was hoping to be able to get a mini-education. Sort of a social marketing for dummies. Blog about the social marketing tool you use most, and this shimmery handcrafted pendant could be yours! Get all the details here. Enter by August 31.

All Dressed Up With No Place To Go

Every once in a while I get the urge to search out the most expensive handcrafted items on Etsy. Today was one of those days, and while this Sterling Silver Chainmail Halter Top is not the most expensive item there, it's the most unusual expensive item I found today. It fits sizes 2 to 6, and with a bit over two pounds of silver and a month's labor in it, it's a bargain for $5,400. I love looking at this and thinking about all the effort and craftmanship that went into its creation. I just can't figure out where I could possibly wear this.

Lucky Girl's Happy Birthday Giveaway

This is my last planned giveaway this month. Depending on the angle of this pendant, it can appear to be teal and orange or ice blue and gold. The dichroic glass I used has a nice crinkly texture, and you also see bits of celery, white, black, and silver. I capped it with clear glass before fusing it in my kiln, so it has a smooth top surface. It's about 9/16" wide and 15/16" long, plus the bail.

I'm participating in MTMD's Page Rank Olympics, and am trying to increase my Technorati-recognized links by August 24. So far I've added a whopping 2. For a chance to win this one-of-a-kind fused glass pendant, help save me from total Olympic embarrassment and include a link to this blog on your blog. You can write something fancy if you like, or you can simply include "Today I entered a giveaway for the most awesome piece of jewelry on earth at Make Every Day Your Lucky Day" at the end of a totally unrelated post. Then post a comment here that includes a link to your post, and you're entered! Easy-schmeezy!

I'm going to be traveling on the 24th, so I'm extending this giveaway a few days. My birthday is August 27, and on August 28 I'll use the randomizer.org thingie to choose a winner from all links posted here from now through August 27. This giveaway is open to bloggers everywhere, so tell your friends! I love giving gifts for my birthday!

Social Media Marketing MEGA Contest

I promised I'd show you another prize from my studio, and here it is! This fused glass pendant has three different kinds of dichroic glass on a base of black art glass. I've covered it with a thin layer of clear glass so that it has a bit more depth to it, and a smooth top surface. Entering to win this pendant is not only easy, but interesting, too!

The Social Arrow is hosting a Social Media Marketing MEGA Contest. Just blog about your favorite social network and what kind of a response you get from it. Check out the official rules at Social Arrow through the link at the beginning of this paragraph. Other prizes are thousands of Entrecard credits, a banner design, and permanent links. Entries must be received by August 31, so you've got a bit of time to work this into your blog calendar.

Yesterday I Was MIA

I didn't get to answer email, drop on my Entrecard buddies' blogs, or post anything here yesterday. I'll get caught up soon, I promise. My daughter took me to see Jack Johnson--I think when your adult child is actually happy to be seen in public with you it's a sign that she's truly an adult. (Yippee!) Jack was awesome, so I found this video for you to enjoy while you're busy feeling jealous. I think I'll try to catch a nap now, some of us old folks need our rest.

Blogging for Blood Cancer Giveaway

If you're a regular reader, you may remember that I promised to give away a fused glass pendant as part of the Blogging for Blood Cancer event this week. This is it--and it's more beautiful in person than I can capture in a photo. I didn't cover the top of this piece with clear glass so that it has a bit of texture to it. For your chance to win this one-of-a-kind piece of art or one of about a gazillion other cool prizes, check out the details at Friends of Heroes and Goodies for Mom.

Square Snakes Are My New Favorite Chains

I added sterling silver square snake chains to my inventory today. This is the first chain I've sold that's actually square! Its angles make it a perfect partner for a geometric pendant. At 2 mm wide, it's large and sturdy enough to handle a heavier pendant, but not so large that it steals the spotlight. Click on over to my Etsy shop to get yours!

Can You Help?

I came across this video the other day, and now I keep going back to Grammology to watch it over and over. Finally I decided it would be (A) more convenient to post it here, and (B) maybe one of you would be able to help Dorothy.

Recycled Flowers

I've got a soft spot for recycled pretties, and today I found a beautiful assortment of flowers made from plastic bottles, plastic bags, and vintage neckties.

These Stemmed Bottle Blooms are made from discarded plastic bottles and individually hand painted. Available from BaublyBeth's Boutique. Pop a few in a vase or scatter them around your garden for a spot of bright color all year long.

Five vintage neckties gave up bits of themselves to create this large flower brooch. The perfect thing to brighten up your jacket, it would also be pretty pinned to a purse. Available from Sage and Daisy Apothecary.

These Everlasting Daisy Hair Pins are so retro and cool! I remember having some sort of loom to make something similar from raffia in the 70s. These are made from used plastic bags, so they're eco-friendly and eco-chic. Available from Strewth!
