GIVEAWAY! Mr. LuckyGirl is Unemployed

The global financial crunch has reached our lucky home; Mr. LuckyGirl was notified that he's being permanently laid off. And no, I'm not giving him away--he's a keeper! In true Lucky fashion, he's been taking advantage of his extra free time and is putting his metalworking and jewelry-making skills to good use.

For his first line of jewelry for Lucky Girl Trading, I told him what sort of earrings I'd like us to make, and he took my idea and ran with it. He's been testing out both fine silver and sterling, hammering earwires, soldering tiny tubes, and hand-coiling and soldering tiny springs.

These earrings and more of Mr. LuckyGirl's creations are now available in the precious metal jewelry section at Lucky Girl Trading on Etsy. We'll be adding more items often, so check back every few days to see what's new.

To help kickstart the new pieces, I'm offering these earrings to you at 25% off! The regular price is $20 per pair, but if you make a purchase by September 30 and put "blog kickoff" in the notes to seller during checkout I'll take $5 off.

I'm also going to give away the winner's choice of any pair of Mr. LuckyGirl's earrings!

To enter: Visit the precious metal jewelry section at Lucky Girl Trading on Etsy, then leave a comment here telling what you do (or don't) like about these earrings. We love all feedback, both positive and negative, so don't be shy!

For an additional entry: Write a post on your blog, linking to both this post and Lucky Girl Trading, then leave a separate comment here with a link to your post.

For one extra entry: Copy, paste, and tweet: Win earrings, support indie artisans @LuckyGirlTradin http://tinyurl.com/mjtjlh

This giveaway is open to jewelry lovers worldwide. Entries will be accepted through September 30, 2009. On October 1 we'll use the randomizer thingie to select a winner.

What a great way to make lemonade out of some uber lemons--the earrings are beautiful! I especially like the ones with the gold leaf agate spheres--reminds me of wood and I'm an earthy girl to the core! Best of luck!

I love the earrings; they are very fresh and modern. However, my mom had several pairs like them, and they tend to slip out of her ears - the crook isn't enough to keep them in place, it seems, and they slide towards the front. So I would recommend including a pair of those little clear, flexible, plastic rings with them, to hold them in place.

i love the stone choices, but i mostly love how long the backings of the earrings are. i'm forever losing backless earrings, i don't think i could lose these!

I quite like the Silver Dangle Earrings with Sodalite Spheres. I like the design as well, it's very simple and leaves to a more sculptural feel as opposed to the standard earrings. The small springs at the botton make the beads appear as lightbulbs! (I wonder if your husband could do something with that?) Sorry to hear he got laid off, but I'm glad it's leading to creative expression.

I like the simplicity of the earrings, but that kind of back tends to either irritate my neck or get tangled in my hair. I wish you the best. With that kind of positive attitude, I'm sure things will turn out okay.

i LOVE the simplicity of having just one bead on the earring (esp the blue goldstone ones). the earwire shape is great as well! the only suggestion i could make is perhaps to have some with just flattened metal instead of the beads and, of course, more bead variety!

I like the earrings, the Tri-Color Circles Dangle Earrings are my favorite. I tend to like my dangly earrings to have more than one thing dangling, and most of these are single dangles. So I'd recommend you add some more with multiple things dangling.

Silver Dangle Earrings with Dragon Blood Jasper Triangles

Love the shape of these beads and the color.
I would like to see some rough stones. Pure organic shape. Not so polished.
I like the ones you are making. But as a nice alternative...rough.

So cool that you are working as a team.

I do love the simplicity of the design. Just a touch of color. My only concern is loosing one of these....these type of earrings tend to come out too easily for me so I always use those little plastic backings just in case.....I hate loosing an earring!

cherdon said...

Very nice earring, I just dont like the fact that there is no backing to keep them in place. I had a pair similar to these and they tend to come forward almost making their way out of my ear hole. My granddaughters however wear earrings so if I did win, I would give it to one of them.
