Help Me Decide How To Paint My Workshop

I finally have some good progress to report on my new workshop/studio space! We've got walls now, a big step from this past summer. There's another day or two of finishing work to do, and then I've got to buy paint.

I know I don't want plain white walls. Do I go bold and bright, maybe yellow and green? Do I try to be a little creative and add some stripes or splatters to a solid background? Sponge paint with lavender over purple? Large circles in primary colors? Stencil a few aliens and/or zombies on the walls? Suggestions are welcome. Please!

So many choices, so few walls.

Go bold and bright. It will keep dark spirits away and will brighten your mood and work.

I would go bold also, helps the creative juices flow....and I would stay away from aliens...lol

The circles sound nice....

Whatever you do, just be creative and I'm sure you will love it!!!

Also, I have left you 2 awards on my blog http://candlesandcrafts.blogspot.com feel free to come on over and claim them if you want!

Take care,
Kat

You could always paint the wall with that chalkboard paint, and then use it to take notes and sketch your new ideas.

Otherwise, I'd definitely go with something bright. Just splashes of color are fun because you can sit back and try to find things in the spatters.

A friend just painted her bead shop a beautiful robins egg blue and all her beads and jewelry just sparkled like crazy... so much more beautiful than I had expected it to be.

Good luck and make sure to show us your color choices :)

Congrats on your new studio! So, have you decided what colors to go with? You can also try nice soothing colors so when you're there, your mind can just relax and be creative :)

I love looking at colorlovers and kuler.adobe.com to get ideas for colors--I suggest going there and seeing what cool color combos other people have come up with that appeal to you :)

I suggest a lime green with purple circles! Kind of like an inverse Barney, if that doesn't make your head hurt. Or maybe orange, like the fruit.

Of course, I'm on a minimalism kick right now and would paint the walls white and add a black stripe horizontally. =]

A creative friend of mine has done up her workspace with colored plaster - apparently this is a new technique. The effect ist amazing, particularly as she colored the plaster in a warm shade of apricot.

What sort of creator are you, do you think? The answer to that should help you decided the colours to pick.
Do you like things calm to create or do you want a buzz whilst your working?
I would say light, nothing too dark but make it yours and use the colours to set the mood you find gets you thinking and working most.

I would go purple - definitely! If it was MY room that is. You need to pick a color that makes you feel happy and peaceful att he same time so youll want to spent all those countless hours surrounded by it.

Your own Studio - how wonderful! Bold and bright is much more uplifting and if you sponge over it for at least 2 of the walls - you won't feel like it is so bright that it keeps your creative mind from wandering! Best of Luck with your project!

Use whatever colors highlight your products, they cannot compete with one another. If you have natural light that streams in, make sure you look at possibilities in all kinds of light - morning - afternoon - ambient - artificial.
I wish you great success and contentment.

I would go bright and neutral, and also have good lighting.

This will help you feel more like working.

Hmm... I think I'm going to suggest a happy yellow color. Not something so bright that it hurts your eyes, but something that lightens up the space and makes you feel like you're outside on a sunny day... rather than down in a basement. Lighting and wall color can really do the trick if done well.

The other thing is to just start flipping through magazines and looking at pictures. Wait until something jumps out at you... you'll be inspired!

Congrats on the new space, how fun!!!

My studio walls are painted a soft watery aqua color, nice and peaceful and not distracting. The color looks great with rich browns or fresh whites and creams, fabulous with glass or stainless steel...so depends on the furniture you are using in the room, but I would stay away from the aliens!
