Happy New Year Giveaway!

Do you make New Year's resolutions? I used to, many years ago, until one year I realized that I was just setting myself up to fail. Judging from all the jokes about resolutions and long we can keep them up, I'm not in the minority on this one. Instead I like to come up with a theme for the year. One year was my year of taking risks, another was a year of creativity. There's no way to fail at a theme, and I've learned some very cool things this way.

As I was thinking over the different things I want to increase in my life, I realized that everyone around me has been encouraging me to put more attention on myself. Mr. LuckyGirl kindly calls me "frugal," but what he means is that I don't buy myself anything. Ever. I probably shouldn't tell on myself like this, but last June when I visited my daughter and new grandson, my daughter complained about my everyday shoes. They had a few tiny holes, and she thought I should replace them. She even phoned Mr. LuckyGirl and asked him to make me go shoe shopping. Here we are a good six months later, and I have not replaced those shoes. The holes are a bit bigger now, and they are not the least bit attractive.

So my theme for this year is Pretty. I will replace the shoes with pretty ones. (No real time limit here, I have 365 days, so I can't fail!) I'll make myself a few new pieces of jewelry. I may even do a bit of decorating. Or I may not. But whenever I'm stuck on making a decision, I'll ask whether a choice improves the prettiness factor around me, and if the answer's yes, then I have my decision.

I'd like to help you with your plans for 2009! The prize is $15 store credit toward anything in my Etsy shop. Take a look around Lucky Girl Trading on Etsy, then come back here and post a comment telling me which item will fit into your plans for the year. I'll accept entries until midnight (Eastern U.S. time) January 7. On January 8 I'll use the randomizer thingie to select a winner.

For an extra chance to win, post about this giveaway on your blog, including links to this post and my etsy shop, then come back here and post a second comment letting me know where to find your post.

Happy New Year!

Believe it or not but the cobra pendant and the "Red, With Benefits" pendant on your Etsy site would help me with my own goals for 2009. Among these goals I'm attempting to liven up my jewelry selection as I tend to go for muted pieces that have no real flair in them.

What a great idea--I like the theme concept much better than the resolutions one--I think my theme for this year will be tranquility/acceptance--I have a tendency to sweat the itty bitty stuff sometimes, and i think your circle of real life pendant would be the perfect reminder to me that circles don't always have to be, well, circular ;)

My Fave is the CObalt Blue Swirls Pendant! Such fun stuff. I would love to start wearing more jewelry in 2009. As a mom to 5 young kids I tend to forget about myself, so fun new jewelry to make me feel pretty would be great in 2009!

I liked the Stripes Interrupted, on Mint. I'd like to learn to make that myself, although I don't really have access to a kiln.

You're very talented.

My favorite item on your site is the Layers of Purple and Green Dichroic Pendant. Purple and Green are my favorite colors and I especially favor them together! I love your idea of coming up with a theme for the new year and not putting unrealistic expectations or limits upon yourself or your life. My theme this coming year would be to take better care of myself and let my creative being soar like it never has before. I want to start making jewelry again so this purple and green pendant would be an awesome way for me to make a "test piece" for myself by adding gemstones and crystals to a necklace with the pendant as the focal point. Wishing you health, happiness and prosperity in 2009. May all your themes come true!

I love the theme idea, I've learned to keep my goals simple so I can actually achieve them haha! This year its to worry less and have the best year possible! The "Rainbow Stripe Dichroic Fused Art Glass Pendant" would be wonderful because it would look cute and looking cute makes it easier to have a good year :) Thanks for entering me and Happy New Year!

I like the idea of a New Years theme! I think mine for this year would be... Simple. I tend to overdo things, and come up with 15 ideas when one would do (and since I'm busy coming up with 15 ideas, I don't ever do the one). I think the Frosted Pastels Dichroic Glass Pendant would help me out here, because it looks simple, but yet very pretty, and would coordinate with almost anything!

On another note, one of my resolutions is to limit myself to craft supplies I'll actually use, ones that mean something to me, and I really like Celtic Rose knot charms- I studied in Britain for a year and a half, and I'm interested in Celtic literature, so they're a fit for me too!

I really like the idea of a theme. I didn't make a resolution but I know that I need to take better care of me and sometimes that means being a little selfish and taking time out just for me. I really love the colors you use in your jewelry. I have been wearing more jewelry this year than I ever have and it makes me feel better. My favorite piece from you is the Tri-Color Circles Dangle Earrings. I would love to try some dangles and these really caught my eye.

Thanks so much and good luck with your theme.

I am so partial to green that the 'spring snow glass pendant' spoke to me. Really, all these pendants are like candy on a chain! So pretty. My 'baby' is graduating from High School this year...kind of sad to see then grow and go, but good in a way too as they launch out on their own. I'd gift her with the certificate to memorialize this big stage in her life....maybe we could do a mother/daughter pendant to make it extra special or something...enter us please!
