A State of Emergency

While not exactly a blizzard, or even a severe winter storm for many parts of the county, this four or so inches of snow has put North Carolina into an official state of emergency. And while we have some snow-removal equipment, for the most part we just wait until the sun comes out and clears the roads naturally. So I'm stuck in the house until Thursday or so, with no way to ship the orders I have sitting here. The happy news is that I did get to watch the inauguration, and now maybe I can get a few odds and ends cleared up. Or maybe I'll launch a new project. Depending on how long it takes the sun to do its job, maybe I can do both.

Yesterday we played in the 65 degree sunshine in Louisiana. Looks like you are a world away.

Here in northern Michigan, 4 inches is like dust. I'd love to be down there even with your snow...but better without. Hope it clears off for you soon.

Four inches is a lot of snow, and to be stuck in the house for a few days... I know how that feel. We got ten inches of snow in early January when I was in New England. That was something! Hope you can go out and about soon :)

Yep. That snow passed right over us in Va. School was cancelled due to the "threat" of snow, but we got nothing.

If your still getting mail, and ship at least one package priority, you can get the mail carrier to pick them up from your door. check out USPS.com. I use them all the time.

i think you got my snow. I was hoping my yard would look like that when I got up but instead we had about 10 flakes. My husband had to drive me to winston-salem just to see white.

Snow! My friend lives in NC too and she showed me pictures. I live in GA and all we had were a few small flurries. Hope it clears up soon :)

Even in lower Michigan, if we get 4"s of snow or 8"s, we can still drive even before they clear the roads.

You guys in NC stole all the snow from us in VA!! :( I live in Hampton Roads and they kept talking about all this snow we were going to get and I never saw a flake!

I'm not living in NC anymore..boo hoo, I would have liked the snow! But, atleast it wasn't an ice storm, right? Remember a few years ago, people were stuck on 1-40 for hours and hours...?? yikes!

Up here in Canada, we live with even more snow than this for 5 months of the year.

Wow, if we had to wait for the sun to melt the roads off here in PA, we'd all be housebound from December thru March!

We currently have well over 2 1/2 feet of snow in the areas that haven't been plowed. Our snow banks are standing well over 6' tall!
